Harry Potter spin off fanatastic beasts realese date set as warner Bros scheduled new Film for 2016
The new film is set for a winter release like the Harry Potter franchise
Warner Bros have confirmed the scheduled release date of Harry Potter spin-off Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.
Although the cast for the new magical movie is yet to be announced, the film will arrive on the big screen on 18 November 2016.
Based on the 2001 book written by JK Rowling, and mentioned throughout the Harry Potter series as one of the Hogwarts textbooks, the story will follow fictional author Newt Scamander.
Rowling has said that while the film isn’t a prequel or a sequel to the Harry Potter films, it works as an extension of that world.
She explained at the time: “Newt's story will start in New York, seventy years before Harry's gets underway.
“I always said that I would only revisit the wizarding world if I had an idea that I was really excited about and this is it.”
Producer David Heyman added that the project is already looking "great”, teasing: “It's going to be very, very special".
It is not yet known whether any of the original Harry Potter cast will appear, but the time shift suggests it is unlikely.
